Singer-songwriter KT Tunstall is selling her charming beach bungalow in the heart of Venice, CA, for $3.15 million.
The three-bedroom home was built in 1923, but has been fully remodeled. The result is an earthy, cozy space and a perfect spot to create in comfort, smack-dab in the heart of Venice and its vibrant art scene.
Set off the street by a hedge-lined gate, the Craftsman-style home is located in the Abbot-Kinney District. The interiors are sun-drenched and borrow from the home’s vintage past, with such touches as the hardwood floors and the wood-burning fireplace in the family room. The mix of new and old adds character to the fresh, modern space.
The kitchen has been updated with custom cabinetry, stone counters, and a Sub-Zero fridge, but gives a shout-out to its past with a delightful vintage O’Keefe & Merritt stove. The main level includes two bedrooms and a den, which could be converted into an additional bedroom. The upper level is dedicated to a main suite with a fireplace, and a main bathroom with a decadent claw-foot tub.
Outdoors, the home is ringed with porches and spectacular spaces for whiling away long, lazy Southern California days. The landscaping is designed by the noteworthy Venice landscape architect Jay Griffith.
For now, it seems the singer is done with Venice. She just launched a new tour in Dublin in support of her latest album, “Wax.” A few years ago, after the death of her father and the end of her marriage, the Scottish chanteuse sold everything she owned and moved to Los Angeles in search of healing and inspiration. In this beachy bungalow, that’s what she found.
Now she’s off on a new adventure. What the beloved musician leaves behind is a gorgeous home that any artist in search of inspiration would love to inhabit. It seems to have done the trick for Tunstall, and now she’s ready to pass its magic on to a lucky new owner.
