Cars lead singer Ric Ocasek and supermodel Paulina Porizkova are selling their beautiful New York City townhome for $15.25 million.
The couple, who separated last year after three decades together, have now decided to separate from their home.
“Ric and I have been peacefully separated for the past year,” the 53-year-old Porizkova posted on Instagram in May 2018. “The photos of our happy family are, in fact, happy family photos; we are just no longer a couple.”
According to property records, the couple purchased the 5,760-square-foot home for $2.5 million in 1989, when their romance was in full bloom.
Built in the 1850s and then renovated in 1919, the home features a living and dining space with a 20-foot-high ceiling and wall of windows that open to the garden.
The five-bedroom, 4.5-bath home also includes an eat-in kitchen, office with skylights, recording studio in the finished basement, two fireplaces, an elevator, and secluded patio. A mezzanine-level study overlooks the living space.
The townhome is located a block from Gramercy Park. The quiet, tree-lined street is known as “Block Beautiful.”
The Czech-born Swedish supermodel dominated fashion spreads in the 1980s and 1990s. She appeared on the cover of the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue, Vogue, Elle, and Harper’s Bazaar, among other publications.
The model and actress met the band frontman in 1984, when she appeared in The Cars’ music video “Drive.” The two were married in 1989. Last year, the band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Debbie Korb of Sotheby’s International Realty holds the listing.
