David Ortiz Lists Wicked Sweet Mansion Outside Boston for $6.3M

Legendary Boston Red Sox slugger David Ortiz has decided to part with his mansion in Weston, MA, for $6.3 million.

Built in 2008, the Adirondack-style mansion is fit for Boston sports royalty with six bedrooms, seven bathrooms, and over 8,500 square feet of living space. The 2-acre lot is protected by a security gate. Weston is an upscale suburb just 20 minutes outside Boston.

Despite its enormous size, the home exudes a warm and cozy charm and is clearly designed for family living. One area of the home is dedicated to Ortiz’s storied tenure with the Red Sox: a basement, theater, and bar designed with help from Fenway architects and built with materials from the park.

The home also comes with plenty of parking for family and guests, in addition to a pool and spa.

“It’s a great space and a great community,” listing agent Paul Colleary told the Boston Globe. “They found a lot of security and privacy out there.”

Ortiz told Boston Magazine he thinks of the home as his a good-luck charm.

“We had a great time in this house—lots of parties, lots of fun—our kids grew up here,” Ortiz said. “But it’s time to move on and let another family enjoy it.”

The Ortiz family is reportedly ready to downsize to a smaller condo in the city. Ortiz retired from baseball in 2016 after a 20-year career, and 13 seasons as an integral member of the Red Sox. He currently ranks No. 17 on the all-time MLB home run hitters list and won three World Series rings with the Sox.

So whether a new owner is attracted to the lovely home and its convenient location or just wants to prowl the halls of the house “Big Papi” built, the property is sure to bring many years of positive vibes to the next family to call it home. Monster swing not included.
